“Shraddha” Teachers Training Program

“Everything begins at the beginning, and quite often the beginning begins when you shift your mind in a new direction”. Here we begin a new academic year. Another academic year means new opportunities. It sets the stage for learning new things. With the same aim, the academic year for 2018-19 was started on 14th May 2018. As usual, this academic year also will begin with the orientation program for the teachers, “Shraddha”, where the teachers will get an opportunity to develop their professional skills and refresh their pedagogical practices. Shraddha Program for this academic year will be conducted by our mentor and the Principal of SSRVM, North, Smt. Mamta Raviprakash Ji, from 16th May to 19th May at our school premises.

“The World Environment Day”

“The World Environment Day” was celebrated with week-long activities, beginning from 1st June and culminating on 5th June, the motto being “Refuse plastic usage by half and to reuse plastic”. Senior school students performed a “Street play” and a rally in the streets of Udayapalaya, appealing the localities to be aware of the increasing use of the plastics, to crush and dispose the plastic and to reuse and recycle usable plastic. The play was also performed in the presence of Pujya Gurudev at the Satsang on 3rd June, Sunday and was highly appreciated by the audience. Middle school students conducted a survey in the adjoining areas. Primary school Students made beautiful and useful things out of plastic waste. Pre-Primary students made posters and contributed towards the cause. We concluded the week with a Special Assembly on World Environment Day. A skit on the theme ‘Beat the plastic pollution’ was enacted for all the students. The Principal, Mrs. Bharathi Jethwani, addressed the students and exhorted them to strive towards eradicating pollution. The students also took a pledge that they will protect the Mother Nature. “Never Doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. ”

NCC Camp

The NCC Cadets of SSRVM, Bangalore South got an opportunity to participate in ten days’ camps, called CATC, conducted by the 8th Karnataka Battalion. Two camps were conducted from 2nd May to 11th May and 13th May to 22nd May at DPS North and DPS East respectively. 12 boys from our school participated in the first camp and 7 girls in the second camp. They were accompanied by the NCC Officer, V. Govindappa. Throughout the camp, they learned March Past, Drills, Firing, etc. and they had sessions on Personality Development as well. The students brought laurels to our school by being the Runners-Up in Football (Junior Division, Boys), Tug of War (Girls), Badminton (Asmi Shenoy, Grade 9), and the winners in Kho-Kho Competition (Girls). We are extremely proud of their achievements.

THE OBSERVATION OF ANTI – TOBACCO DAY

To raise a collaborative notice against the use of tobacco, we, here at SSRVM Bangalore South, observed Anti-tobacco Day on 31st May 2018. The day started with Gurupooja and a skit by the students of Grade 12 on the importance of being tobacco-free in life. This was followed by the performance by the students of the middle school and high school, who exhorted their friends to stay away from the use of tobacco and the other related products. They also took an oath to keep themselves and the society tobacco-free. The session ended with a video on de-addiction and the principal’s address.

Fashion Show

The students of Grades 6th to 10th got an opportunity to showcase their creative spark through a fashion show where the students designed costumes using the best out of the waste. The event not only brought out the creativity of the students but also exhorted them to reuse the materials that we consider as unwanted. The message of conservation of the environment could not have been conveyed in a better way.

The Fourth International Yoga Day

The Fourth International Yoga Day was observed with great enthusiasm at SSRVM Bangalore South on 21st June 2018. The students of SSRVM Bangalore South and Sri Sri Ayurveda College of Science and Research. gave an impressive demonstration of Asanas. Various breathing exercises were also conducted. The students showcased their flexibility and talent by performing a Yoga Dance. The programme concluded with a pledge which exhorted the students to perform Yoga to have a holistic approach towards health and well-being.

The Student Council for the academic year 2018-19

The Student Council for the academic year 2018-19 was elected on 18th June 2018. We thank our outgoing Student Council for all the support they had extended last year. Educational field trip to Prani Pet Sanctuary on 26th June 2018.

The learners of Grades 8 and 9 were taken for an educational field trip to Prani Pet Sanctuary on 26 th June 2018. The thought behind this was to inculcate a sense of belongingness and respect towards the animals. It also developed an insight into the cruelty that the animals had faced. More humane approach was instilled in these young minds. Some of them were so excited that they have decided to adopt a pet soon.

The Assembly on World Conservation Day

The Assembly on World Conservation Day done aptly and beautifully by the learners of Grade 9 B. The dance drama and the speech gave an insight on the importance of the day and also the need for conservation of our environment.

Making SSRVM South - The Green Hub

The learners of Grade 9 and 10 did a stupendous job by donating plants in to the school as a part of Vanamahotsav celebrations. The initiative was to instill a love and concern for our environment and at the same time being responsible for the same. We appreciate the parents for their invaluable contribution without which this would not have been possible.

"Creativity is the highest form of research."

The students of Grade 9 experienced learning through imagination when they created Models of School in 2050. This subject enrichment activity for English infused in them the enthusiasm to think out of the box and to create a hypothetical situation. We were honoured to have Bharati Ma'am, the Principal of our school as the judge for the same. The students were encouraged and appreciated for their fantabulous efforts.

SSRVM South did a brilliant job by winning many awards at the Indian Talent Show 2017- 2018

The learners of SSRVM South did a brilliant job by winning many awards at the Indian Talent Show 2017- 2018. It provided a platform for showcasing their skills in subjects like Arts, Math, Science and Cyber. They were felicitated and appreciated in the School Assembly. The efforts of Kamalakshan Sir who was a driving force behind this was also acknowledged.

The Investiture Ceremony conducted on 11th July 2018

"A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus." Keeping this in mind, the young minds of SSRVM Bengaluru South were bestowed with the responsibility of leading their school from the front with their commitment, confidence and competence. The Investiture Ceremony conducted on 11th July 2018, thus marked the inauguration of the student council for the academic year 2018-19. Brigadier Sandes (Retd), Principal, Dayananda Sagar Business Academy graced the occasion. He bestowed the council members with their badges. He also encouraged the students with his words and exhorted them to make more friends and shoulder their responsibility whole heartedly. An award function was also conducted where the toppers of the school were felicitated. We congratulate all the council members and hope that these young leaders will uphold the values of the school and keep our school flag flying high, while discharging their duties honestly and impartially.

72nd Independence Day Celebration

“The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” With the same motto in mind, Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Bangalore South, celebrated the 72nd Independence Day of our country with unprecedented patriotic fervour on 15th August, 2018. The gamut of activities held on the Art of Living International Centre campus consisted of flag hoisting, speech, cultural programmes and an impressive March Past. The entire school along with Ved Agama Pathashala, Ved Vigyan Maha Vidya Peeth, Sri Sri Ayurveda College, etc. assembled at the Gurupadukavana for the celebrations. Our Poojya Gurudev, H.H. Sri Sri Ravishankar ji hoisted the Tricolour. The national anthem echoed in the entire campus. Our students enthusiastically participated and showcased their talents and patriotism by delivering a speech on the importance of the Independence Day, performing patriotic songs and swaying and dancing to the music which fills one with immense pride for his or her country. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity. The celebrations have not only imparted joy to the students, but also the essence of patriotism, unity, brotherhood, secularism, sovereignty, etc.

Sports Achievement

It gives us immense pleasure to congratulate and encourage our young student, Master Behanth Gowda of fourth standard. He was awarded a trophy and certificate for achieving the 2nd position in the BGC Junior Golf Championship held at Bangalore Golf Club on 30th July 2018. He competed with twenty other participants in category D-for boys.

Occasion of Krishna Janma Ashtami

On the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janma Ashtami the Primary students celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna with lot of fervour . The celebrations commenced with a welcome note by class five students.They also spoke about Lord Krishna's childhood, the essence and significance of the learnings of Bhagwad Gita in our daily lives. The little children dressed as Krishna and Radha stole hearts of all present. The celebrations continued with the tradition of " Matka breaking "

Teachers’ Day

A teacher is someone who awakens the teacher in you." Teachers’ Day was celebrated at SSRVM Bangalore South with a lot of excitement and exuberance. The celebration began with the auspicious Gurupooja and the students were enlightened on the roles played by the teachers in their lives and on the super technology. Cultural programmes were organized by the Student Council. It concluded with a ‘thank you note’ delivered by a student representative, marking the importance of teacher.

The Cleanliness Drive, Swach Bharath Mission, initiated by the honourable Prime Minister, Sri. Narendra Modi

The learners of Grades 6 to 12 got a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Cleanliness Drive, Swach Bharath Mission, initiated by the honourable Prime Minister, Sri. Narendra Modi. They were involved in a webcast with the PM at the Art of Living International Centre.The session was really interactive. After the webcast, the learners were involved in various cleanliness activities in the nearby villages. The whole session was to exhort the learners to strive towards a clean and hygienic India.

Amazing opportunity to attend a workshop at IIT Madras

Ganesh Ram B. of Grade 11 got an amazing opportunity to attend a workshop at IIT Madras, conducted by the Federation of Science Club, Tamil Nadu. He got a chance to interact with the lecturers, research scholars, etc. and got motivated to pursue his higher studies at IIT.
